Mic

Ok im at wits end! Im pretty sure i got this to work before. But i forgot how to do it. My front mic panel doesnt work ive spent hours trying to find the solution but failedThe front panel used to work before so im sure it shouldnt be a hardware issue. About six months ago i was tweeking the settings and somehow managed to make the back panel the default, but that disabled the front port, i didnt care at the time coz i didnt need it. I want my speakers hooked up to the back panel while my headset and mic to be hooked up to the front panels. My problem is that it keeps telling me that the mic is not plugged in even though it is, and yes the mic and earphones are plugged in the right place.

First if you only have the High Definition Audio Device drivers, that says you do not have the driver for the actual sound hardware, that is only a Windows installed generic, basic function driver. Install the correct driver from HP and see if that makes a difference.Second, you list Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS. With only 4 GB of RAM you should be using the 32 bit version. The main reason for using a 64 bit OS is that it will use (address) more than 4 GB of RAM. In fact, a 64 bit OS uses more of the basic memory than the 32 bit version does, thus leaving you less for programs.

Heya!:PI recently bought a brand new Logik Wired over-ear headset, that includes a removal microphone. The main purpose for this purchase was so thought I can use a microphone.

Unfortunately, I cannot. My laptop has a two-in-one audio jack, which was a littleconfusing at first, but after some research, I found out the purpose of it. It's a microphone and headphone combo.Anyway, I did some more research about how to connect the microphone and headphone set together, and turns out I'll need to use a wire splitter. With my headset purchase, I bought that wire splitter, hoping for it to work. Fortunately, it seems to work, since I can hear clearly through the headphones, but the microphone doesn't work. I tried a different splittter, and received the same results; 'Mic in at front panel (black) not plugged in'I looked over my headset's box, and noticed a little note; 'System Requirements Microsoft Windows XP/VISTA/7/8, MAC OS X' Re-read that a million times, and turns out, it's not compatible for Windows 10, which is my PC's current version.

Took the hand tothe face, and grunted. Hello Tanisa,Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.Regret the inconvenience you have experienced.Did you tried testing the functionality of the Headset with some other devices?I have seen the video link which you have provided herewith. In that video, it clearly indicates that windows 10 fails to detect the built-in Microphone came with Headphone. I suspect that the problem lies with the headset, as due to connectivity or mightbe incompatibility. However test the headset by connecting it to some other PC, which is running with Windows 10 or any other and see if it works fine there. Do test some other Headset connecting it to your PC either with help of splitter or without it and see the outcome. Also try the below mentioned troubleshooting steps and check if it helps.a) Open run command by pressing Windows key + R and type “ devmgmt.msc” (without quotes) and hit Enter.b) Spot and expand the “ Sound, video and game controllers ”.c) Right click on theHigh Definition Audio Device driver and select “ Uninstall” then restart the system and let the system install the driver automatically on Start. Check and see if it resolve theissue. ( Recommended step)Ensure that the Headphone plugged into your PC while performing these troubleshooting steps.Keep us posted if you require further assistance.

Heya ^^Appreciate the assistance.I've tried connecting the headset to a faulty Windows 7 Toshiba Innovation laptop, and thankfully, it seems the microphone is working. It doesn't necessarily say the microphone is plugged in (doesn't even display a microphone in the Recording devices section)but I did test it using Skype to see if it worked. Note. this laptop has two audio jacks, unlike my primary laptop, which has one integrated one. One microphone jack, and one headphones jack,I blew into the microphone to see if it was the actual microphone that's connected, and it seems to work. You can clearly hear the blow sound. I did unplug the mic and blow again, just to see if it wasn't the laptop's built in mic, and looks like it wasmy headset's microphone. The troubleshooting didn't seem to do a thing, since I'm still receiving the same error message.Considering that my faulty Windows 7 laptop picked up my mic, but my primary one didn't, I suspect that my audio jack may be faulty.

It probably picks up headphones, but not microphone, which is a shame. Hello Tanisa,Thank you for getting back to us with an update.Yes, from your description the Headset with Mic able to work correctly when it plugged into a PC, which had two separate audio jacks, unlike using a splitter to connect it to a two-in-one audio jack. As you said the problem might lies with the two-in-oneaudio jack, which had on your primary laptop. If you need to use the Headset with a Mic on your primary laptop, then that Headset should have single connecting jack which supports both.Keep us posted if you require further assistance.
