Hello, We have a small simple virtualized (ESXi 4.1) XenApp6 environment. If I am on Computer A w/ Citrix Receiver 3.2 and have a full XA6 desktop launched and log onto Computer B with Citrix Receiver 3.2 and select reconnect to my session, my default printer isnt set. If i right click on the printer and select 'set as default' i get the error in the above topic. These printers are auto created and the default printer is different on Computer A vs Computer B. One punch man opening 2. So on Computer A I would have a printer called 'lexmark123 on session X' then when i reconnect on Computer B I would I have a printer called 'HP on Session X' but no printers will be set as default. I have looked at: and we are not using a CNAME and this used to work, but I think a patch might of been installed which broke it. I have googled and checked the forums and cannot find a fix and looking for any assistance.
Operational Could Not Be Completed Error 0x00000704 Windows 10
If i restart the print spooler on the XA6 server I am then able to set a printer as default.thanksEdited by: Ryan McGhee on Jun 18, 2012 6:57 PM. Hi,any news about this issue? We have a similar problem with same error message.Till now we were not able to reproduce it, because we didn't find any 'rule' when this will appear. We have session printers mapped via Citrix Policy GPO.
Sometimes users get a wrong default printer set and if we try to set the correct default printer manually, we get the 0x00000709 error. If we remove the corrupt printer from the session and add the same printer manually again it is working without any problem.I tried to reproduce via disconnected session like Ryan described, but it doesn't happen. The problem is also independend of the printerdriver, sometimes HP printers sometime Toshiba printer, sometimes Oki printers are affected. We'll try to remove the named MS patch as next step, even if it doesn't solve the issue for Ryan.BUT: The patch is installed since Nov.
2001, but the problem first appeared 4 weeks ago, so we think, that this patch most probably is not the reason. Our servers are provisioned via PVS 6.1. We have two images active, one of them was not changed since but it also shows this behavior, so we are a little bit confused, because as already written, the problem first appeared round about 4 weeks ago.Kind regardsGeorg. The mysterious registry key from my last post most probably are not the reason. We completely reconfigured printers for the user who had this registry entries but today the issue reappeared for him - but the mentioned registry keys are looking good. But another finding today also in registry. In HKEYUSERSSoftwareMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionDevices the user has 5 printer connections, but HKEYUSERSSoftwareMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionPrinterPorts there are only ports for two of the printers!Because of this, we now also uninstalled KB2532459 which some time ago was installed. It was installed because of other printer related problems.
Hey everyone.I'm working on adding a printer to our Windows 7 workstations that isn't working out of an old installation package we have. It's not worth going back and editing that package as we'll be upgrading soon so I'm trying to script the printer add via VBS so I can quickly get it out to the users. I'm using the printui.dll to add the printer with this command:rundll32 PrintUI.dll,PrintUIEntry /if /f%windir%infntprint.inf /n 'RightFax Fax Printer' /m 'HP LaserJet 4100 Series PCL6' /j 'hpzppwn7' /r 'c:ProgramDataRoamingRightFaxSpoolJob' /u /zHowever, when I run this command, I receive an error stating 'The operation could not be completed (Error 0x00000704).
The specified port is unknown.' Seems like I just need to be able to add the printer port of 'C:ProgramDataRoamingRightFaxSpoolJob' (yes, that's what their support dept told us to use), but in all my Google searching I've only found scripts that add TCP/IP ports (such as; nothing ever pointing to a local directory. (I did find some references to prnadmin.dll that I am looking into now that looks like it could work, but I'm not sure yet. EDIT2: Now that I look a little more into this, I'm not sure I really want to have to register a new DLL from the servers to do this, so this one might be out too unless it's the only option.)Can someone point me in the right direction? I'm at a loss and a little out of my element when it comes to scripting this kind of stuff.
The command only needs to run on Windows 7 (x86 and x64). Appreciate any help you can toss my way.
Now back to Google.EDIT: Removed code tags around rundll32 command as they were breaking the forum table pretty bad.
